
21 Day Self Care Reset
In this section, you will find daily practices to teach you what self care is and why it's so vital in today’s society.
They say it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, however I say why stop there, if after 21 days of following this programme you feel positive benefits why not carry on, instead make this part of your new way of life. You will see in your journal there are plenty of grids for you to extend the programme.
But first, let’s look at the misconception that self care is selfish..
Selfish: lacking consideration for other people, to think only of oneself.
Self care: the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
So many people find it impossible to say no, and if they do they are weighed down with guilt. However the truth is the happier we are within ourselves, the more positive impact we have on those around us. So, you could say it is selfish not to practice self care.
Making sure you nourish your mind and body is essential, whether that's in the form of exercise, good food, fresh air, nice walks, reading, massage, silence, connection, art.
Aim for at least 1hr a day dedicated to doing something solely for you, it can be broken in to 2x 30min sessions or 4x 15mins if you find 1hr hard to find.
If you want to dive deep into the 21 Day Reset, think about messaging your friends and family and let them know you are have a 3 week retreat in which you would be grateful for essential contact only, delete social media apps temporarily from your phone, and turn it off as often as possible. It’s amazing how many times a day we pick our phone up out of habit.
Avoid all TV, radio and paper/magazines, we want to have full control over what we are feeding our mind in this period. Spiritual/mantra music/podcast/books are your go-to for stimulation over this period.
Early nights and early mornings will help boost your energy levels and emotional stability.
If you feel you need some comfort, ask someone you love for a cuddle, and if you don’t have a human or animal to cuddle then go and find a tree, its scientifically proven to release the same feel good endorphins that human cuddles release.
